Rachel Tolan, LICSW

I have 15 years experience working with adults, and families in both individual and group settings. I’ve worked with people through inpatient and outpatient services and in all socioeconomic statuses. These include recovery homes, counseling centers, residential treatment centers, in various communities, and now in my private practice.

In my training and life experience I have come to believe the achievement of happiness and serenity in our lives comes from a heightened awareness of self. This includes understanding, gaining education, and insight into the profound impact our thoughts, perceptions, actions, biology, and histories have on our wellness. Unexplored these realities and the choices we make have the ability to cause discomfort, confusion, depression, anxiety, isolation and even inability to function. Ultimately with a new awareness, we begin to identify new options for coping; leading to further life fulfillment.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts in 2003 and in 2007 I graduated with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver. I earned the highest licensure for clinical social workers, the LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker). I have additional training and experience in Substance Abuse Counseling, Grief and Mourning, Early Developmental Disorders resulting from Abuse, and I am Certified as an ARISE Interventionist. I was also published in 2007 for an article “Substance Use In Our Families”.

I am a passionate therapist and seek to build trust with my clients. I have a non-judgmental approach that helps my clients become aware and empowered to make the changes that they desire in life. I will gladly answer any questions you may have about my experience and I look forward to hearing from you about what you are looking for in therapy. Perhaps our interaction may help you decide if I might be the right fit for you.
